Should I Trust a Psychic?

Or should I use my own intuition instead?

This question comes up a lot, with people who get information during a reading that may conflict or confuse what they already believe to be true.  (or often, what they hope is true instead..:-)

The fact remains, that you should ALWAYS go with your own “gut” rather than put 100% faith in anything a psychic, medium or clairvoyant might have to offer instead.

And while a good psychic can certainly illuminate, enlighten and and inspire you to follow a specific course of action or to pursue a particular path, if anything they recommend feels like it doesn’t jive with your own sense of what’s right or next, trust your OWN inner voice first. 

Again, much the way you wouldn’t neccessarily you wouldn’t blindly follow the advice of any other gifted professional without using your own good judgement, the same should be true of anything you are told when seeking out psychic advice as well.

Remember though, most authentically gifted psychics and clairvoyants will ALWAYS give you multiple options and describe the various outcomes they see for you, per whatever path you pick.  Very little is set in stone in life….and free will, and personal choice ALWAYS prevails.

How helpful are psychic readings anyway?

Good question.  The truth is, they are only as helpful as you allow them to be, and of course, how much the information you get resonates with your situation.  (as there are certainly many times that the reader is NOT accurate enough to be helpful at all)

In the cases where the information IS in fact “on target” with your life circumstances and you know the reading is right?

The biggest problem I see, with people who DON’T use the reading for good……is that many people don’t APPLY the advice they get.  This could be because they simply aren’t ready to change, or because they don’t want to believe what we know in our gut is true.  Much like any other type of professional advice that is critically important but unfortunately ignored……invariably, it’s always up to the individual to take the steps to change their destiny.

A good analogy?

When I was younger, I smoked.  Over a pack a day.  And my family physician told me over and over again that due to my childhood asthma, I was slowly killing myself….and that I should stop immediately.  And while I knew this was true, I ignored the advice anyway.  It wasn’t until I had a close friend pass away suddenly that I realized how fragile life is……and how our daily habits DO play a part in how healthy we are, and that scared me sufficiently to stop.

It’s the same thing with life advice you’ll get from an intuitive.  They can tell you how your story is going to end up if you don’t change course……., but if you don’t make the changes yourself, you’ll never benefit from their gift

The BIGGEST reason to see a psychic in the first place?

In my experience, as a supplemental tool to help guide you through life!  I don’t [‘recommend becoming addicted to psychic advice, or disregarding your own natural intuition as well.  A genuine psychic or medium can give you access to a piece of yourself that most of us neglect, many of us DON’T even believe exists at all……and help us see the magic, and the mystery in the universe.

The #1 thing that most psychic mediums agree upon?

That the afterlife IS in fact a very real “realm” that everyone will experience after they die.  And that our energy body, soul or spirit persists after the physical body dies……essentially freeing our “true self” from the bondage of being “stuck” inside of a body that ages very quickly.  (whereas your soul, and true spiritual self…….is timeless!)

What about heaven and hell and purgatory and punishment?  Do they exist?

This is a pretty controversial area, and regardless of what people will tell you, there is  A LOT of disagreement and difference of opinion on who goes where and why.  Believe it or not, many mediums are very religious people, often raised in traditional Judeo-Christian homes, and retain much of those values and beliefs, as it pertains to “punishment” for earthly deeds…. when they filter messages from the other side.

Most mediums, however…..believe THIS:

That you “go” to a place that matches your energy, awareness and degree of enlightenment.  And that all of us are here to grow, learn and develop as spiritual spiritualbeings….and the level of afterlife we attain, is directly associated with the path we pursued while here.

So a really bad person in this life is not necessarily going somewhere to be punished per se, but rather…..to be confronted with the karma that he or she created while here.  (and to be held accountable as well, but NOT so much in the fire and brimstone way that many religious texts teach and preach)

This is important, too…….

That just because someone “enters” the afterlife, it doesn’t mean that they automatically know it all, or become wise beyond all measure, or have suddenly solved all of the secrets of the universe.  It appears that people who are at a “lower” level may only be aware of a little bit more than you and I as it pertains to the afterlife, and other than being conscious that life continues after the body dies, they still don’t really know what to expect next.

Others of course….seem to go to a place that is full of light, love and bliss, and report being re-united with loved ones who have previously passed on.  This not only is reported my psychic mediums, it’s also of course, very common in near death experiences, dream visitations of loved ones, apparition sightings, and all sorts of other psychic and paranormal phenomena as well.

The truth is, a good psychic medium can give you FIRST hand proof that the afterlife is real, most commonly through giving you access to information about your loved ones that would be impossible to know, or otherwise explain. 

These messages are almost ALWAYS hopeful and helpful about what awaits us all, but it’s very important to live your life in a way that helps you get to where your loved ones are……if you want to be re-united with them when you arrive.  (so do good deeds, care for other people, and live a life FULL of love, as THAT seems to be the most important lesson of all!)

What Should I Ask a Psychic Medium?

Do you have butterflies about talking to a psychic medium?

Believe it or not, being nervous before speaking to a medium is very, very common.  There is an energy, and an expectancy about what may or may not happen during the reading that can actually be pretty overwhelming……and in a good way.  (but can still “jangle” your nerves either way)

I remember going to see John Edward a few months ago in small private group setting.  

Even though I’ve been publishing in the psychic marketplace professionally for years, and have had an amazing array of personal experiences that were quite extraordinary, as I sat there waiting for him to come out and talk to us, I still found myself nervous with anticipation.

Who would come through for me?  And what would I ask?  Should I push for answers…..or just be happy that I was getting personal validation at all?

This is actually a very common concern, and something that many of our readers (as in, people like you who visit our blogs and communities) want to know prior to getting psychic help or advice.

After all……no one wants to get a reading only to sit there in silence and NOT know what to ask, right?

The first thing you need to understand is this:

A genuine psychic medium is someone who specializes in helping people make contact with the deceased….plain and simple.

They don’t really do “psychic” readings in the stereotypical sense.

They don’t predict the future.

Or tell you what numbers you should play at the local lotto.

Nor do most mediums do a lot of life reading style advice.

Instead……a good medium serves a very specific purpose, and that is to act as a conduit between your loved ones “over there” and YOU, over here!

So understanding your OWN intentions, and identifying what you want to get out of the experience is really, really important before you begin.

If communicating with spirit is NOT your primary intention, your best bet is to seek out a different style of psychic altogether.  (As someone who specializes in love or romance or career  readings has a very different skill set, and is often much better at making powerful predictions that you can really use to make important decisions)

My best advice for those of you who are seeking out a medium?

Write down a series of questions about your loved one, or loves one’s who have “crossed” and focus on these areas.

Ask questions that ONLY the person you seek would have answers to.  This could included pet names, odd interests or hobbies, or even unique interactions you may have had with them during their lifetimes here.

Look for super specific evidence that the medium is in fact getting information from the other side…and NOT doing cold reading, asking leading questions or is just guessing.

Write down the answers as well.  (or if you are able to get the session recorded, this can be a benefit, too)

Why?

Often you’ll find that if you take notes and check back AFTER the reading…..you’ll discover amazing insights that weren’t nearly as obvious while the reading was taking place, but make perfect sense when looked at later.  (as your loved ones will often give you a SIGN during the reading that WILL in fact come true later….and if you don’t remember what was said, you might miss it as well!)

Psychic Spirit Guides

Do psychics have spirit guides?  How do mediums get information during a reading?  I know we’ve covered this a number of times, but there are so many unique ways that psychics get messages…..that’s it’s impossible to generalize or stereotype ALL readers with the same brush.  I’ve had amazing readings with mediums who claimed to get all of their information from a spirit guide or messenger from the other side….and have had other mediums tell me that the spirit guide idea is silly!
